Going

Summer’s not my favorite season. Fair skin (transluscent!) and no tolerance for heat makes me cranky.

And you know how I get when I’m cranky.

My boy, on the other hand, has his daddy’s olive skin. They brown like biscuits.

He enjoys the water.

The sand.

The quiet.

And sometimes the raging war.

If I put on sunscreen and dip myself in the cool Lake Michigan waters, though, I forget to be cranky and I actually relax.

I want to go back.

Maybe it’ll help me be nice again.

About Michelle Pendergrass

I'm a Bible reading, horror writing, blue-blooded, Southern fiction reading, happily married, homeschooling Christian. And if that doesn't make you go Poltergeist on me, stick around for the raw potato-eating, wine drinking, country music listening, Coach purse carrying, bass fishing other half of me.

I am sad yet excited to see the summer go. I am a hidden ball of emotions.
