While I was in Chicago for AWP, I just happened to run into my friend Eric, a professional snowboarder. I haven’t seen him in 18 years! And there he was, across the street from the Hilton at Grant Park. I want to be a ripper now!
Once again, more confirmation that I do not belong in academia. I have more in common with punks who carry snowboards. 😉
I write down all of the dreams I can remember. Sometimes, I wake in the middle of the night to write them–those are the best. Misspelled words, rough drawings, and incomplete sentences, yet totally raw and full of emotion. Sometimes, my dreams seem pretty meaningless or mundane. But as I examine them and dig into the representations my subconscious makes, I’m left speechless and stunned. Yes. Me. Without words. That’s what happened with my dream last night. I don’t know if I’ll share or not.
I’m waiting for the results of my blood tests. I could have either thyroid disease or diabetes. Or neither. I’ll find out sometime today.
Chuck is sleeping on my pile of clean clothes. Damn dog. Damn laundry that never ends.
I’m in a “get rid of” mood. I want to scour my house for unnessary items and get rid of them.
Jen reads Randy Ingermanson’s blog and he talks highly of this (free) Simple.ology course. Jen’s been following the course and I haven’t. I had decided to give it a shot, started it, and never got past day one. So I started again today. Which leads me to the next bullet point.
I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.

I think that’s it. But y’never know. I might be back later with more.
I thought I might do something a little new. Maybe on Saturdays. Or Sundays. Or just when I feel like it.
I still have big news, not sure whether or not I can say yet, so I’ll be keeping my happy little mouth shut until I know something for sure. You know this hurts right, this taming of the tongue?
I really kind of meant to blog about this stuff so here’s a (maybe) new thing here. Things I Meant to Blog About But Ran Out of Time, Energy, or Just Plain Forgot
Dan Keohane, a writer friend who gives me awesome advice and pep talks, he’s a headliner for this issue of Apex Science Fiction and Horror Digest. The cool thing is I kinda helped with his story Ray Gun. I didn’t do a whole lot, just read it over, told him how great it was in those fun little yellow comments on Word and sent it back. Extra bonus, Gary Braunbeck has a short story and interview in this issue as well.
Coach of Relief Journal pointed out a very cool new venue: Bohemian Alien Check out their “about” section. I think I like these guys.
Exercise advice often ignores jiggle factor (Exercise gurus don’t take into consideration things like big boobs. Now they’re paying to study it. They could have just paid me and I would have told them why girls like me don’t run or do aerobics, I think I could have found great uses for their money.)
