What A Difference A Week and A Rake Can Make!

On this first day of spring, it was seventy degrees! Look at the difference between last week when Jen was here. Here’s her little guy playing in the snow for the first time ever.

Here’s what it looks like today after I raked. Oh, and be quiet, I didn’t get around to raking in the fall. Besides, its good for my plants to have the covering of the leaves.

Here’s Jen’s son and Molly (our dog who scratched my eyeball)

And here’s today.

  1. It really is amazing. How cool that it changes so quickly.

I even noticed when I came home that everything had already leafed out and a lot of stuff I thought was frost damaged was growing again.

Can’t wait to see what it looks like in June!

  2. A couple of weeks ago everything was blah and brown. Now there are daffodils & hyacinth blooming. But last week the trees were still pretty bare. This week? They’re starting to bloom. There’s green popping up everywhere. It’s awesome to watch seasons change.

But the tell tale sign here in Eastern Carolina that spring is here? Pine tree pollen. When I left home yesterday there was pine tree pollen all over my truck. Spring is here. We get so much of the pollen that you go through several days at a time when you can’t have your windows open in nice weather. Unless you want to constantly sweep up the yellow, chalky stuff or dust your stuff.

    But I’m rambling . . .

  3. Daffodils? Oh,I miss daffodils and all the other stuff that seems to come from the dead back east. I love AZ too much to ever leave for good but the one thing I do miss here in the desert is the delineated changes of seasons. Say “hi” to a Hoosier spring for me, Michelle.
    Abundant blessings,
