#Lose500 {week 5/52}

It’s been a couple weeks since I posted, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working. Quite the opposite.

At last count, I’d rid this home of 43lbs of stuff.

And I’m positive I’ve  gotten rid of (at the very least) 200lbs in the last few weeks.

257lbs to go and it’s only week 5??

Dude.

The boxed I emptied:

To Goodwill:

p.s. I did not take a picture of the trash I threw out. Maybe I should’ve, but can you trust me when I say it was a LOT? There is also another donation bag with quite a few books that I forgot to photograph.

Let’s take a look at another (wonderful!) side effect of decluttering…organizing!

The Studio is starting to slim down.

The “guest room” is still not a guest room. That is one of my goals in all of this. To be able to store those totes and other odds and ends somewhere else (or to go through them yet again.) Truth is, most of what is in the totes is either extra bedding, blankets, or seasonal clothes. So I’m a little confused as to what to do with them.

054

Our bedroom/living room. Still looks a little cluttered to me, but I’m trying!

056

My desk/office area (still cluttered)

057

Our closet is looking good. However, there’s still a pile of clothes on the bed and a full laundry basket and no hangers or drawers left. *sigh* Obviously I have to go through the clothes again.

And finally, the photo of the most organized place…because I need to see something good to feel like I’ve accomplished something!!

  1. Don’t you just love getting rid of junk?? No matter how many times you seem to go through things, there’s always more and more you realize you don’t need. My linen closet is next. Every time I clean it out…I come to the realization that there are only 3 of us and we can only use one set of beddings at a time. Do I really need 5 sets of twin sized tweets, that are only used when the mattress is brought up for company? haha NOPE! Now that my office has been fine tooth combed, on to that closet. Is under your bed full? That’s a good place to put linens in shallow totes if you don’t have a closet. Really, it only makes sense since it’s closest to the bed anyway. haha. Nice job!

    • Under the bed is a great idea!!! I have one long, thin tote under there now with the Christmas wrapping paper. I bet I could get another under there (and hopefully still leave Chuck enough room to sleep, he loves it under there!)

I need to try to get Zane’s bedding somewhere in his room, too.

      • Well , of course he need a place to hide from the clouds and rain 🙂 I know Phil has absolutely no time, but a high shelf across the very top of your hanging clothes might help with hats, shoes or seasonal clothing (things you don’t have to reach for very often) My closet has high shelving and it’s very useful for the things you need, but don’t use all that often (and keeps it all out of the way.)

        • Another GREAT idea!!! If I had that–I could probably store all the extra bedding up there and then then I’d be able to get a queen box spring for the guest bed and then I’d be able to empty like 3 totes w/blankets, sheets, and pillows that go on the bed. Then I’d be able to hang up pics and decorations and WOW. I’d have very little clutter left!!!

  2. I love nothing more than a good day of purging! Oh my, how it feels so good emotionally to get rid of all of the extra junk laying around. If I felt like it, today would be a good day for it. Nice outside, windows open. But, I’m blah today.
