The Seemingly Never-ending Flood of the Winter of 2007

Don’t forget to Name That Picture!

* * *

Back yard pond in the summer.
Yeah, see the hole there in the back?
The one with no water in it?
Yeah. That one.
That’s the pond.

Back yard pond January.
January–when it’s supposed to be snowing.

Back yard pond now.
Flooding.
Looks like we live in the bayou.

Front yard normal

Front yard February 4, 2008

Front yard one day later.
Flooded.
Water freaking everywhere.
An ice rink in our front yard that we can’t skate on.
Wonderful.
Now, it’s -3 with wind chills of -15.

This is a photo of one of many holes.
Yes, in our basement cellar (near the sump pump).
And the sump pump stopped working last night.
At almost midnight.
And the basement cellar started flooding.
So Phil took out the furnace motor.
Then prayed.
Then kicked the sump pump.
And it started working again.

These are only enjoyable picture I have for you.
The toad that lives in our basement.
He eats the bugs and spiders.
I like having him as a guest in our home.

In fact, we like having him so much,
Phil made him a house.
Mr. Toad needs a name.
Maybe we should have a contest next week to name him?
What do you think?

  1. I was just thinking that he needed a name!

I don’t know, I think we could try skating on your front lawn. Might be fun. At least it’s not deep!
